With just a few quick and easy steps, you can keep your driveway in great shape for many years! Corridor Concrete can provide more information on long-term maintenance, and in many cases, can help with the on-going maintenance.

Clean and reapply sealer as needed.
Keep your driveway sealed and give it a good hard cleaning on occasion and you will keep your driveway looking its best.  There are several factors that determine how often you should clean and reseal your driveway.  The main factors are the type of weather conditions and the amount of traffic your driveway is exposed to   Generally, a concrete driveway should be resealed every two years, or when the finish begins to show signs of wear.

Remove stains immediately.
Even with a sealer, it is still best to immediately remove any antifreeze, gas, gasoline, grease, oil or any other spills.  If there is discoloration of the concrete, pressure wash it and then use cleaning chemicals to remove the stains.

Don't use deicing chemicals.
When deicers are used on concrete driveways during the winter, it can cause serious surface damage, including scaling and spalling.  This damage is caused because the chemicals force the thawing and refreezing of moisture. Even more harmful are products containing ammonium nitrates and ammonium sulphates.  Those chemicals will attack the concrete chemically. Rock salt (sodium chloride) or calcium chloride will do less damage.
